Recipe card! and My 1st post for Critter Sketch!

I am so excited to be a part of the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog design team.
We have a recipe challenge for you this week: one image, four buttons, and the color purple.

The card I made for this challenge is for our very own Melanie.
As we were all getting to know each other and preparing for the new term, Melanie announced that she was going on her honeymoon. I thought it would be fun to have the first card I use for Critter Sketch be a wedding card for Melanie. So here it is:
The buttons are purple. I don't know why in the photo they look blue.

This is the inside of the card. Both stamps were dollar finds from Michael's.

Now it's your turn to go on over to CSCB and show us your recipe cards/projects.
Thanks for visiting!

'All Jacked Up in June’ Blog Hop

If you arrived here from Rebecca ~ http://www.craftingmisfit.blogspot.com/ then you are in the right "Jacked up" place. If you get lost along the way, please visit http://www.shortnscrappy.com/ for the complete lineup.

We were asked to make an altered item with a Cocktail theme. As soon as I heard the theme of this hop I knew exactly what I wanted to create; A Martini recipe book!

(Make sure you read all of the way through my post, there is blog candy ahead!)

I purchased these index cards at Wal-mart, and turned it into this:

I used the "All Jacked Up in June" blinkie for my color inspiration.

For each of the tab dividers I chose words that are found in martini recipes.

Included in the recipe book are 44 martini recipes that I found on the internet.
Fruity, Chocolate, Food Network Chefs, and Other martinis.

This recipe book is my blog candy for this blog hop. All you have to do is become a follower (or already follow) and leave a comment. Please include an e-mail address or some way to contact you if you win.

This is the last stop on Patti's Blog hop so Thanks for hopping.
Don't forget to check back to see who wins my blog candy.

International Friends Blog Hop

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the International Friends Blog Hop. If you arrived here from Lena's Crafts then you are in the right place. (Wasn't her apron just beautiful?)

When we were introduced to the idea of sharing a family tradition I didn't hesitate to decide on making Aebleskivers. What are Aebleskivers? Read on to find out.

On my mom's side of the family we are Danish. I never knew my maternal grandparents for they passed away either before I was born or shortly there after. When My twin sister and I were born my mom found out she had cancer. To make a long story short, my mother passed away when we were only seven years old. The reason for telling you this is; I didn't hesitate because making Aebleskivers is the only tradition that we have from her side of the family.

Aebleskivers are "round pancakes" (as my nieces and nephew call them). The pans we use to make them are my mom's pans and we cherish them. The batter is dropped into the heated and well oiled pan, once the air bubbles begin to appear they are turned 1/3 and then again another 1/3. This ensures perfect round balls. In researching Aebleskivers I found out the word actually means apple slices. Traditionally some people make these "pancakes" with apples inside. (if you look closely at my layout you will see that I used apple paper for the background) My family has always eaten them with strawberry preserves and powdered sugar. This past Christmas all of my brothers and sister came over to my house and we sat down to a huge breakfast of Aebleskivers. This project was a lot of fun. I hope you like them. You can visit Solvang, California and taste these wonderful treats. They even have Ableskiver Days, a festival celebrating the traditions of Denmark.

The journal on the right of the page is left blank on purpose. I will type up our family history and the story behind Aebleskivers and add it to this scrapbook page.

I used the "From My Kitchen" Cricut cartridge to cut out most of the details on my pages.

White puff paint and Glossy Accents were used for the powdered sugar, the jar of preserves, and the bowl of Aebleskivers.

This is a mini recipe book that I made using my scrapbook pages as inspiration. This is also the blog candy I am offering for this Blog Hop. Please leave me a comment (become a follower if you want) and I will draw a winner using random.org on Wednesday, March 23rd. Don't forget to include your e-mail address in the comment so I can let you know that you won. I forgot to mention that the recipe for Aebleskivers is in the mini recipe book that I made for you! :)
