Scrapbook layout

So it's been forever since I have done any scrapbooking and then I read a comment that said when you see a picture and are motivated, make a page. I thought that was brillant. So here is the page I made.

The sketch came from Helen at scrap-a-little.com.

I want to make a scrapbook of special moments. I dated the bottom corner of the page so I can remember when the picture was taken. It was at my best friend's graduation dinner. We were celebrating the achievement of her Master's from UCLA.

Thanks for stopping by.

Divas by Design DT call!

Divas by Design are looking for 5 DT's:
"We are also looking for 5 new DT members! We will be split into 2 teams so you will need to be able to produce a piece of work once every 4 wks with the possibility of working with sponsor images on occasion. You will also need to comment on challenge entries according to a set quota."

I would love to be a part of this design team. I have been crafting since I was very young. My grandmother taught me how to crochet, paint, draw, and sew. I have a great husband who doesn't mind my obsession with all things crafty and even gave me the guestroom as my craft room. I love making cards and refuse to buy $5 "Hallmark" or any other brand cards.

Here are the three projects that are my favourite:

This was an easle card I made for my friend's birthday.

I love to try new folds and techniques. The digi is Meljen's so is the sentiment.

The scrapbook layout was a project that I did for my first blog hop. The group consisted of people from around the world so we decided to make it a traditions/culture theme.

Here are a couple of close ups of the embellishments I made.

Thank you for the opportunity to be on your design team. I would love to be a part of it.

International Friends Blog Hop

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the International Friends Blog Hop. If you arrived here from Lena's Crafts then you are in the right place. (Wasn't her apron just beautiful?)

When we were introduced to the idea of sharing a family tradition I didn't hesitate to decide on making Aebleskivers. What are Aebleskivers? Read on to find out.

On my mom's side of the family we are Danish. I never knew my maternal grandparents for they passed away either before I was born or shortly there after. When My twin sister and I were born my mom found out she had cancer. To make a long story short, my mother passed away when we were only seven years old. The reason for telling you this is; I didn't hesitate because making Aebleskivers is the only tradition that we have from her side of the family.

Aebleskivers are "round pancakes" (as my nieces and nephew call them). The pans we use to make them are my mom's pans and we cherish them. The batter is dropped into the heated and well oiled pan, once the air bubbles begin to appear they are turned 1/3 and then again another 1/3. This ensures perfect round balls. In researching Aebleskivers I found out the word actually means apple slices. Traditionally some people make these "pancakes" with apples inside. (if you look closely at my layout you will see that I used apple paper for the background) My family has always eaten them with strawberry preserves and powdered sugar. This past Christmas all of my brothers and sister came over to my house and we sat down to a huge breakfast of Aebleskivers. This project was a lot of fun. I hope you like them. You can visit Solvang, California and taste these wonderful treats. They even have Ableskiver Days, a festival celebrating the traditions of Denmark.

The journal on the right of the page is left blank on purpose. I will type up our family history and the story behind Aebleskivers and add it to this scrapbook page.

I used the "From My Kitchen" Cricut cartridge to cut out most of the details on my pages.

White puff paint and Glossy Accents were used for the powdered sugar, the jar of preserves, and the bowl of Aebleskivers.

This is a mini recipe book that I made using my scrapbook pages as inspiration. This is also the blog candy I am offering for this Blog Hop. Please leave me a comment (become a follower if you want) and I will draw a winner using random.org on Wednesday, March 23rd. Don't forget to include your e-mail address in the comment so I can let you know that you won. I forgot to mention that the recipe for Aebleskivers is in the mini recipe book that I made for you! :)
